Gettin’ Grown

Dear Mr. Greer,

Gettin' Grown, What can I say…
It was different even though I thought it was going to be a typical “black film” were you have to go through life doing wrong before the “valuable lesson is learned”. Overall I this was a great film, there were so many messages and heat topics relayed in such a short film. From the price of the pills for his grandmother to the profiling by the police to showing how the father is so important in the child’s potential of “Gettin’ Grown”. The message that you will suffer consequences or reap the benefits on the decisions you make hit home the most for me. As being just 21 years old the decisions you make now will determine future and how promptly you reach your goals, which holdfast in every stage of your life from peer pressure to the corporate world. I can’t wait to see the new version of the film, so I will be waiting for the new twist. Thanks for visiting our school and showing us a different aspect of black film.

Sincerely,

Shana L. Woods
