Forged by Fire

Well Sharon Draper has done it again! Just by reading only the first page grabbed me like Gerald really has a compelling story to tell if this is how it begins. The title is already ironic from the component of him being stuck in a fire while his mother is with a drug dealer. We are getting to know Gerald’s past and how it came along to be who he is now—misunderstood and abused. I believe these books grab my attention so well is because we can always relate to these stories on a personal level from it has happen to us or we know someone it has happen to. I can’t wait to see what happens next after his ninth birthday and I plan to pass these books on to my younger teenage brother to encourage him to read.
