Extra Credit: Black Poetry Day
This was a great time for AAMU students to express their various feelings and concerns through words about their personal life, campus life and the WORLD. Ranging from the feeling of lost loves to new loves, concerns about politics, and just WHY?. Black Poetry Day was great to hear know poets to local (AAMU) poets and all the various aspects of everyday life that was discuss. To hear Tupac’s lyrics read as poem rather than a song showed that rap as very eclectic piece of art. On my personal level, I haven’t attended an Open Mic Night in a while and it just opened a lot of doors that I closed that need to be re-opened. It really touched me how they expressed their feelings and concerns through word and I remember how I once express my feelings and concerns through my crafts and creative artsy style. As I observed the poets, musicians, singers, and dancers were all doing things they enjoy doing in their spare time away from work and school. It was time for them to examine within and express deepest secrets. Overall what I learned that I need to do more things for myself that I enjoy and make me happy. All universal languages were express here through words, music and dance that showcase the various talents through intellectual and spiritual side of AAMU that is over looked as it is on most campuses.
